Sherri Jessee Behind the Scenes: Intercoiffure Mondial 2014 Trend Collection

Representing North America as part of the Intercoiffure Mondial International Artistic Team, I recently had the fabulous opportunity to help create the 2014 trend collection. "Illuminations," was produced by Elmarie Lignier on location at Intercoiffure Mondial World Headquarters in Paris, France.

My gorgeous model, Jazzmine, received a full makeover including color, cut, and extravagant styling.
Join me for a sneak peek behind the scenes as I was able to document the techniques and tools used.

First I applied a dark brown demi permanent color gloss.
To achieve the perfect bob shape, I used a technique that uses the head shape as a guide. I grasped the hair, low and tight at the hairline and pushed up my hand flat against the head until my pinky reached the hairline. Then, I twisted the entire section holding parallel to the floor and cut straight across below my fingers.
After completing the back sections, I held the sides gently down and connected to the back.

To create broken texture on the ends, I cut 1 1/2" into the ends using a texturizing shear with 27 teeth.
Finally, I created and cut a blunt fringe section to open up the face.
A smooth blow dry emphasized the new shape.
To create the rough texture that was requested as part of the trend collection, I teased and flat ironed the top sections.
Natsuko Nakayama for Shisheido applied makeup emphasizing a gorgeous smokey eye.  Stylist, Jonathan Mahaut, fit Jazzmine into fabulous wardrobe.

Here I am adding finishing touches to the models' hair on set.
Photographer, Rob Peetoom, captures images of model, Jazzmine, in dramatic poses on location at Intercoiffure Mondial headquarters in Paris, France.
I always stress that it takes a great team to capture fabulous images. Each key element must be perfect: theme, studio space,  photographer, makeup, wardrobe, hairstylist, and model.

As part of the "Tungsten" collection, my particular style was designed to, "draw maximum attention for a feminine punk appeal. It is young fashion power in vinyl, leather and fur.The cut is edgy with hard contours: a short bob with voluminous texture and eccentric details."
