Beauty Tips for New Year's Eve

Don’t run out of steam. There is no better time than New Year’s Eve to amp up your personal style. Just remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. Be sure to pace yourself as your beauty must last through to the New Year! By using the correct products and tools, you will be able to create a lasting look.
  • Don’t get stuck in a rut. This is the perfect occasion for those that tend to be timid with their tresses to go for bold beauty! If you normally wear your hair smooth, change it up and go for a super curly coif and visa versa for you frizzy haired girls, your locks will be stunning glassy straight. Start from the very beginning with the perfect styling creme, Pravana NEVO Model Behavior.

  • Do look slimmer. Camoflauge extra holiday pounds with the illusion of added height with a holiday high bun. Pile the hair high with a sock bun. This is the secret way beauty queens create fun buns.

  • Don’t be ghostly. Ever take a pic and have a white face? New Year’s Eve will be the time to take tons of photos so be prepared. Make sure your foundation does not have SPF. Sunscreen in makeup shows up looking ghostly in photos. Makeup Forever HD creates a soft focus and makes a great choice for photography.

  • Do amp up the eyes. Go for a dramatic cat eye with an extra thick wing of a waterproof gel eyeliner. This is also the best product to line your water line to create an eye that will be the envy of the best makeup artists.

  • Don’t leave a trace. Long wear lipstick like Sherri's SuperWear Lip Creme is awesome. This formula will last all night with no crumbling, no caking, no fading, no feathering, and will not leave an embarrassing lipstick mark on your champagne glass!

  • Do dare to bare. Spray tan in a can on your hands and mix with your favorite body lotion for a golden glow.
  • Don’t be skimpy with your jewelry. Layer it up. A bare neckline can be enhanced with a single beautiful choker, however, think of the statement you will make by layering multiple necklaces of varying lengths.

6. Superwear Gel Eye Liner.
Go close to the lash line on the top and line the water-line on the bottom. For more drama, use a flat brush and smudge the liner with an accent color of
choice.

1. Prep.
Begin with clean, moisturized skin. Tweeze any stray brows.

2. Eyebrow Powder.
Use an angled brush and light brown shadow to fill in and correct eyebrow shape. For extra drama, be sure to emphasize the arch.

3. Shadow Primer.
Using a concealer brush, apply to entire lid.
You can also lightly tap on to any blemishes to conceal.

4. Pale eye shadow.
Brush over entire lid. This can be worn alone and also provides a nice base for additional colors.

5. Brown Shadow.
Gently sweep brown shade just over the curve of the eye and blend. This helps emphasize the eyes creating the illusion of depth.

7. Lashes.
Apply single lashes. When using a strip lash, trim it to fit your eye and allow the glue to dry about 30 seconds before applying as close to the lash line as possible.

8. Mascara.
Brush on mascara to combine your lashes with false lashes. Apply to the upper and lower lashes. Be sure to comb out any clumps for a natural appearance.

9. Foundation.
Air brush is great for flawless coverage. If not available, use a foundation brush to lightly apply foundation...or a powder brush to apply mineral powder to even skin tone.

10. Lip Color.
Use a lip brush to apply long wear lip color. Go just outside the natural lip line and fill in entire lip. Allow to dry and add lipstick or gloss, if desired.

11. Blush.
Using angled blush brush, sweep cheek color from apples of the cheeks into the hairline.

12. Contour and Highlight.
Apply light tan/taupe shade to the hollows of the cheeks. For more drama, you can also lightly sweep under the jawline, and down the sides of the nose. For more drama, apply highlighter

6. Superwear Gel Eye Liner.
Go close to the lash line on the top and line the water-line on the bottom. For more drama, use a flat brush and smudge the liner with an accent color of
choice.

With the debut of hit movie inspired by F. Scott Fitgerald’s book, The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, I am proud to present, The New Gatsby ... a 2013 NAHA Editorial WINNING Collection!
Helen Oppenheim has always been a great predictor of fashions. She has been a wonderful mentor to me as I have grown as an editorial stylist. She recommended I do a Great Gatsby themed shoot saying this would become a huge trend. Boy, was she ever right! At her suggestion, I read the book, watched the movie and many movies of the era, and began doing tons of research. For more info on Helen, visit her website: www.HelenOppenheim.com
F Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald.

I watched the 70's movie with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow.
I researched makeup styles of the era. David Maderich did a wonderful job on the makeup!
This Versace ad was key inspiration to the layout.
Oh, how we all miss fabulous David Widjaja. He was a true genius. He and Bobby Warden did a beautiful job on the wardrobe styling.
I colored Kaitlyn's hair.
I curled Kaitlyn's hair.

I cut Nick's hair.

I was inspired by JULIEN D'YS hair creations at the Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibit entitled "American Woman."
I cut, colored and styled wigs... and tried them out on myself to see how they would photograph.

Un-retouched shot of Ely with green screen.
Love the glitter-bob.
One bob was colored, cut and then crimped with aSam Villa Textur Iron. Lots and lots of prep was done before the shoot.
